VPC Andorra claimed a commanding 38-19 away win against Akra Barbara in Alicante on Sunday, securing their second straight victory in the Spanish División de Honor B's Group B after two matchdays.
Under coach Santi Lugones, the Andorran team delivered a dominant first half offensively at Poliesportiu Juan Antonio Samaranch, opening the scoring with a try from Julià Pintat after just one minute, converted by fly-half Gastón González for a 7-0 lead. Akra Barbara, coached by Manuel Cano, responded with two penalties from Elio Kuntz-Caron in the 4th and 8th minutes to trail 6-7. The hosts then took a 13-7 advantage through a try by captain Zéus Torrecillas, also converted by Kuntz-Caron.
VPC hit back immediately with a try from Adrià Pintat, converted by González, followed by a González penalty to lead 16-13. Adrià Pintat added his second try before halftime, again converted, with González landing another penalty to extend the score to 25-13 at the break.
Akra Barbara mounted a comeback in the second half, narrowing the gap to 25-19 via two more penalties from Kuntz-Caron. González halted the momentum with his own penalty, paving the way for late tries from Valentín Hoxha and Ian Granyena to confirm the 38-19 result.
The victory places VPC Andorra among three teams tied on 10 points at the top of Group B—alongside CAU València and CN Poble Nou—with next opponents Barcelona Universitari Club (BUC) on 9 points after their own 25-20 win over Akra Barbara and a 53-5 defeat of Rugbi Club Ponent.
