Kevin Teixeira set a new Andorran record in the 800m freestyle, lowering his own mark to 8:03.53 — nearly three seconds faster than his previous time. He swam in the first preliminary heat and finished fourth; the race was won by Serbia’s Nikola Simic.
Biel Cuen also competed in that first heat, posting 8:04.36, which was likewise below the former national record.
Alfonso Maltrana, technical director of the Andorran Swimming Federation, described the meet as “a very good championship: we achieved two Andorran records and three personal bests in a highly demanding environment.”
