Andorra's ski resorts are set to open more than 240 kilometres of pistes over the Christmas period, marking an increase of around 40 kilometres compared to the same dates last year.
The resorts announced the plans in a joint statement, describing it as "one of the best Christmases in recent years" due to recent snowfalls and further precipitation forecast in the coming days. A new cold front is due to arrive from Saturday, bringing additional snow.
By this weekend, nearly 200 kilometres of slopes will be available across the three main domains. Grandvalira will account for 125 kilometres, while Pal Arinsal expects to have 70% of its pistes open and Ordino Arcalís 90%. All ski lifts will be operational.
To mark the festive season, the resorts have lined up a packed programme of events. Highlights include torchlight descents and lantern-lit runs, visits from Father Christmas and the Three Kings, snow-surrounded dinners, and après-ski sessions featuring international DJs. A New Year's Eve party is planned at L'Abarset.
