Smörg Launches Iberian Supercars Title Bid at Portimão with BMW M4 GT4

Andorran resident driver Smörg begins his Iberian Supercars title campaign this weekend at Portimão, Portugal, partnering once again with Javi Macías in the Promotion Motorsport BMW M4 GT4 Evo.

The season opener at the Algarve circuit launches a schedule that also includes rounds at Valencia, Jerez, and Estoril. Smörg and his team enter with high confidence after dominating the early Spanish GT Championship (CET) events at MotorLand Aragón and the Ricardo Tormo Circuit in Valencia, where they secured the standings lead with one win and three second-place results.

Smörg highlighted the championship's intense competition this year. He noted that familiar rivals in the Aston Martin Vantage AMR GT4 will now face added pressure from McLaren Artura GT4 entries, raising the bar in both quality and quantity. The driver expressed determination to claim the crown that eluded them last season, when a racing incident at Jerez dropped them to second in the overall standings despite a strong campaign.

"We're approaching the Iberian Supercars opener with real excitement—it's a top-tier series that's even more competitive this time around," Smörg said. He added optimism about the team's capabilities and the BMW's potential, aiming to make amends for the previous year's disappointment.

The Portuguese round will set an early benchmark for Smörg's bid in the packed field.
