Andorran alpine skier Joan Verdú took a fall during training this week at Reiteralm in Austria but is back on skis today ahead of Tuesday's night World Cup event in Schladming.
Representing the Andorran Ski Federation (FAE) and the VAN DEER-Red Bull Sports team, Verdú caught a gate on the course, resulting in inflammation in his left shoulder joint and surrounding tendon area. A subsequent MRI scan ruled out any serious damage.
Pol Ferrer, the FAE physiotherapist, said the team is treating the inflammation and expects a normal recovery. "Everything is progressing well," he noted.
Verdú resumed light skiing today to begin preparations for the Schladming World Cup race.
