Roger Puig will represent Andorra at the 2026 Winter Paralympics in Milan-Cortina d'Ampezzo, competing in all five para-alpine skiing disciplines from 6 to 15 March. The skier heads into his third Games in top form following his strongest World Cup season, with a fifth-place finish in the downhill overall standings and eighth in the absolute rankings.
Puig expressed high motivation and serenity, crediting his consistent results for giving him a sense of preparation. He aims to ski well, enjoy the event and deliver full effort without setting specific targets, to avoid unnecessary pressure. "Participating in the Games brings added pressure because it's a major competition that attracts attention and offers opportunities for strong outcomes," he said, while stressing he approaches it calmly as one more race in his career. Puig plans to emphasise speed events, where he posted his best marks this season, and described the Cortina d'Ampezzo course as fast at the start before turning technical with narrow turns and jumps. Emotionally, he is at a high point, with wedding plans set for right after the competition—a potential "great gift" for himself, his partner and the country.
State Secretary for Sport and Youth Alain Cabanes highlighted Puig's progress and confirmed he will travel to Italy to support him. Cabanes outlined steps toward establishing the Andorran Paralympic Committee by September, transitioning from FADEA's current role while retaining its foundational support. The initiative seeks to embed adapted sports development within clubs and federations, aligned with the high-performance structure.
Culture, Youth and Sport Minister Mònica Bonell praised Puig's long-term sacrifice and family support, voicing full confidence. "We're very proud and now it's time to enjoy and show your level—no pressure," she added lightheartedly. Andbank country director Maria Suárez described Puig as a role model of discipline and passion.
