Piqué Aggressively Confronts Assistant Referee at Halftime in FC Andorra's 3-3 Draw with Málaga

Gerard Piqué, majority shareholder of FC Andorra, confronted the assistant referee aggressively in the tunnel at halftime during his team's 3-3 draw with Málaga CF in Spain's Segunda División on matchday 33.

Referee Alejandro Ojaos Valera from Murcia detailed the incident in the official match report. Piqué approached the first assistant referee, shouting and pointing his index finger within centimeters of the official's face. He repeatedly called the officiating "a historic robbery" and threatened to publicize it on X, formerly Twitter. Piqué also exchanged offensive remarks with Málaga staff, requiring intervention from FC Andorra personnel and security to separate the parties.

The confrontation stemmed from two controversial first-half decisions. Ojaos Valera disallowed an FC Andorra goal due to a prior foul on a Málaga player and awarded the visitors a penalty in added time, converted by Eneko Jauregi to give them a 2-0 lead at the break. FC Andorra mounted a comeback in the second half, with Josep Cerdà scoring twice—once from a Thomas Carrique cross and again tapping in a Gael Alonso rebound—to level at 2-2. Lautaro de León then put the hosts ahead 3-2 in the 80th minute, only for Francisco Montero to equalize two minutes later from a Josué Dorrio cross.

Coach Carles Manso later questioned the disallowed goal preceding Yeray Cabanzón's effort, describing the contact as minimal, though he acknowledged the penalty contact. The match, played under heavy rain before 1,722 spectators at the Nou Estadi de la FAF in Encamp, showcased FC Andorra's recent form: 42 points after 32 games, their best mark in the category, with 13 points from the last 18 available.

This marks Piqué's second such outburst this season. In September's 1-1 draw with Mirandés, he insulted the assistant referee as "shameless" and labeled the refereeing "a disgrace," with sporting director Jaume Nogués also involved.

The Spanish Football Federation released the report. No disciplinary actions have been announced. FC Andorra host Racing de Santander on Sunday.
