Mònica Doria finished outside the podium in kayak cross on Sunday, capping a mixed opening weekend at the Copa Pirineus in La Seu d'Urgell.
The Andorran paddler had started strongly on Saturday at Parc del Segre, topping the qualifying heats with the fastest canoe time and the second-quickest kayak mark. She faltered in the finals, however, taking fourth in kayak by just over half a second from the medals. In the canoe final that followed, Doria earned bronze, 3.91 seconds behind winner Maialen Chorraut, after a two-second penalty for hitting a gate.
On Sunday, Doria posted the fourth-fastest qualifying time in kayak cross and advanced through the early heats. She placed third in her semifinal, missing the final and settling for a non-podium result.
The Copa Pirineus now moves to the Pau canal this weekend to conclude the series.
