Mònica Doria kicked off the Copa Pirineus with a third-place finish in the canoe final and a fourth in the kayak event during the opening stage at Parc del Segre in La Seu d'Urgell.
The Andorran paddler topped the qualifying heats, posting the fastest time in canoe and the second-best in kayak. She struggled to maintain that form in the finals, however. In the kayak final, Doria finished just outside the podium in fourth, missing the medals by little more than half a second.
The canoe final followed shortly after, where she claimed bronze but 3.91 seconds behind winner Maialen Chorraut. Doria incurred a two-second penalty for touching a gate, which contributed to the gap.
Today, she competes in the kayak cross discipline as the Copa Pirineus continues. The event wraps up next weekend at the Pau canal.
