Key Points

  • Kostadinov, 22, signs until 2028 from Tenerife where he averaged 3:45 min in 4 games.
  • Adds dunks, rebounds, physicality; versatile across interior positions.
  • Positive on Andorra welcome, intense training; aims to contribute energy and spectacle.
  • GM Solana: Long-targeted signing; team may seek exterior reinforcements post-Bassas.

Kostas Kostadinov, the 22-year-old Bulgarian forward-pivot measuring 2.04m, was presented as MoraBanc Andorra's new signing on Thursday at the club's headquarters auditorium. The athletic talent joins from La Laguna Tenerife on a contract covering the rest of this season and two more, running until 2028, to add dunks, rebounding, physicality, and versatility across interior positions.

Kostadinov, who trained in Real Madrid's youth ranks—qualifying him as locally formed—spoke positively about his early days in the Principality. He highlighted a warm reception from teammates, coach Joan Plaza, and staff, despite adjusting to the altitude and cooler climate. "They've welcomed me very well, and I'm very happy to play here," he said. Positive comments from former Tenerife teammates, including Jaime Fernández and Giorgi Shermadini, influenced his decision. He described initial training as intense, with strong and competitive interiors, and voiced optimism about the team's prospects. "The squad has a lot of talent, fast and powerful players. We might be missing something, but I think we can win many more games from now on," he added.

Limited to four appearances averaging 3:45 minutes this season behind veterans like Shermadini, Fran Guerra, Tim Abromaitis, and Aaron Doornekamp under Txus Vidorreta, Kostadinov seeks regular minutes. "I'm a 22-year-old who wants to play. I didn't get much chance at Tenerife, and it hurt a bit, but I hope to contribute a lot more here," he explained, avoiding further comment on the "veteran-heavy" roster. He pledged energy, jumps, spectacle, and flexibility inside or outside as needed, including boosting offensive and defensive rebounds.

General manager Francesc Solana called the move a long-targeted opportunity, praising Kostadinov's completeness, ambition, hunger, and multi-positional fit in the frontcourt. The club had faced him several times, including in round two this season at Pavelló Toni Martí—where he played 8:07 minutes for 5 points—and during his Primera FEB loan at Palencia. "We're very happy and give him a warm welcome, hoping his drive to prove himself in the league will help us," Solana said.

Solana noted the team's positive collective progress amid a rebuild but acknowledged some players falling short of expectations. He left room for further changes, including potential exterior reinforcements after Guillem Bassas's departure. "We'll see how we reshape the squad now, but it's clear some aren't at the level we expected," he said, without specifics. The next game is Sunday at Casademont Zaragoza.

Kostadinov's arrival immediately bolsters MoraBanc Andorra's interior depth with athleticism and long-term potential.
