Key Points

  • Event overcomes initial snow and low turnout by installing shelter tents.
  • Improved weather drew larger crowds to Saturday's third session.
  • Acrobatic glowing diabolo performances created buzz and applause.
  • Now consolidated in second season, coinciding with Freeride Championships.

Ordino's après-ski event at the 1,300m altitude is running smoothly after early weather challenges, according to Jordi Serracanta, the parish councillor for Tourism, Dynamisation and Sports.

Serracanta noted the event's success over this weekend's sessions, with improved conditions drawing larger crowds to Saturday's third outing. Organisers installed several tents for shelter following initial snowfalls, a step taken directly from lessons learned in the first two days when turnout was minimal and the second session was scrapped due to poor forecasts.

"Last week went well despite the bad weather, which showed us we needed cover—so we've added it," Serracanta said. "It's not raining today, more people came last week, and even larger numbers are arriving now." He added that the initiative is now "consolidated and will carry on."

Attendance climbed further this weekend, helped by a performance of glowing diabolo routines. Two artists showcased acrobatic tricks and illuminated spins to a DJ set, earning loud applause from the crowd and creating a "buzz" to spark interest and encourage returns, Serracanta explained.

The high-altitude après-ski marks its second season, coinciding on its third day with the Freeride World Championships, which helped lift early momentum.
