Key Points

  • Pupils requested a municipal sports department and clearer info on local sports, taster sessions and costs.
  • Proposals include a charity fundraising item, a table-tennis table in the park, and a repeat school bike ride with safety workshops.
  • Children reported poor grass on football pitches, urged artificial turf, and asked for the Ansalonga campsite pool to be reopened.
  • Consuls will forward proposals to relevant authorities; reopening Ansalonga pool is complicated by private ownership and investor plans.

Students aged nine and ten from the Andorran and French schools in Ordino met this Wednesday for a new edition of the Consell d’Infants to present proposals focused largely on expanding and improving sports offerings in the parish.

Pupils from the Andorran School proposed creating a municipal sports department after identifying needs in class. They asked for clearer information about which sports are available locally, when and where taster sessions take place, and what the costs are. They also agreed to continue existing projects such as litter collection, an environmental contest, and visits to the Casa Pairal.

French School students suggested repeating last year’s charity initiative by designing an item to raise funds for future activities. They proposed Christmas activities including singing at the Casa Pairal, requested a new table-tennis table in the park as a meeting and exercise spot, and asked for a repeat of the school bike ride with road-safety and basic-mechanics workshops.

Maria del Mar Coma, the parish’s cònsol major, described the proposals as “very interesting,” saying they promote sport and a healthy lifestyle that should be encouraged from an early age. She also highlighted the value of intergenerational meetings, noting they benefit both older residents and children and foster solidarity for those without grandparents nearby.

Children raised concerns about local facilities, pointing to the poor state of grass on some football pitches and suggesting replacement with artificial turf to reduce slipping. They also asked for the reopening of the Ansalonga campsite pool, which is currently closed and unused.

The consuls said they will pass the proposals and concerns to the relevant authorities and are studying possible improvements. On the Ansalonga pool, Coma noted reopening is complicated because the site is privately owned and the owners are seeking an investor to install bungalows and expand the offering, but officials will continue talks to clarify intentions and explore options.
