Spanish Coach Leads Andorra to Historic Golf Silver at Euros

José Manuel Lara, the Spanish coach of Andorra's national golf team, has led the squad to a historic silver medal at the 2025 European Championships in Bulgaria.

Born in Valencia in 1977, the former professional golfer has resided in Andorra since 2020. In addition to his role as national selector, he hosts *Lara Academy*, a golf programme on Movistar Plus, where he has appeared alongside figures like Chacho Rodríguez.

Lara works closely with Ordino's youth development team, training on Tuesday afternoons. He also promotes the Aravell Andorra Golf Open, an annual event organised by Creand Crèdit Andorrà for the past four years. His primary workplace is Aravell Golf Andorra in Lleida, where efforts focus on advancing Andorran golf.

A seasoned traveller who has visited more than 70 countries, Lara says Andorra has taught him to appreciate clean air and mountain serenity—qualities he overlooked before moving there. He relies on top-tier equipment, likening his golf clubs to Formula 1 cars, and favours sturdy footwear that withstands muddy conditions.

In 2024, he featured in an interview with Spain's *Marca* newspaper. Off the course, Lara enjoys fine dining and quality time with his wife, whom he describes as the most important person in his life.
