Andorra la Vella Advances Parish-Wide Bike Lane Network with National Authorities

Andorra la Vella's local government is working with national authorities to finalise a parish-wide bike lane plan by the first half of this year, following a key technical meeting two weeks ago.

Cònsol Major Sergi González outlined the collaboration with State Secretary for Mobility David Forné and the team preparing the communal urban planning scheme. The effort aims to link fragmented existing paths into a continuous urban cycling circuit, offering safe routes for families and daily commuters to advance sustainable mobility. "There are many streets and some small bike lane sections, but they are often disconnected," González noted.

Initial work will focus on Prada Motxilla and Baixada del Molí, where officials plan to repurpose existing pavement into a dedicated lane with new signage. This forms part of a broader "green corridor" vision presented in September 2025, featuring native tree plantings, urban furniture, rest areas, improved accessibility, and links to areas like the river promenade.

Cònsol Menor Olalla Losada emphasised collaborative progress, stating that once the budget is finalised, it will be made public to maximise spaces across the parish and country. González stressed a phased rollout without fixed deadlines, calling 2027 as a completion target "too precipitous." The project's study phase means the total network length remains undetermined. "We will set action phases to make it a reality," he said, with the immediate goal of mapping the full route this semester.
