The issue stemmed from a failure in the government's license plate data system, which handles recognition for resident discounts. Without it, meters could only apply the higher visitor rate, risking overcharges for Andorran-registered vehicles. To avoid penalizing locals, council officials took all machines offline starting Friday afternoon, posted notices on them, and instructed traffic agents to halt checks until repairs.

Technicians from the parish and government worked through Saturday, but the fix was not completed until Monday as anticipated. Drivers were urged to verify notices before parking, with app payments noted as unaffected—though many still use meters.

Council sources described the outage as non-exaggerated in financial impact, declining to quantify lost revenue. They explained that varying resident and tourist rates create a wide range, and affected zones do not generate high collections, making any estimate unreliable.
