Andorra Taxi Sector Embraces New Unified Dispatch Centre After 2,500+ Digital Rides

Andorra's taxi sector has given a positive reception to the new unified dispatch centre after its first eight days of operation, with over 2,500 services handled digitally through the system managed by CityXerpa.
The platform, launched around Easter, has integrated more than 90% of taxi professionals, who now receive and process rides via the app. Bernat Altimir, CEO of CityXerpa, noted the swift transition from an analogue to a nearly fully digital model, describing the adoption rate as faster than in comparable international cases. He added that new booking channels, including mobile apps for Taxi Andorra and CityXerpa, will launch on 15 April.
Taxi representatives echoed the optimism. Armand Godoi, president of the Associació de Taxis Interurbans (ATI), called the shift a radical but welcome change that improves daily efficiency. "The feedback from drivers is that we should have done this sooner," he said, adding that it could attract more foreign users amid high tourism levels.
David Forné, Secretary of State for Energy Transition, Transport and Mobility, hailed the centre as a long-sought step toward unification, resolving past service disruptions. With no major negative feedback reported, he described it as a strong early indicator of success.
The upcoming taxi regulation, expected by month's end, will make integration into the single dispatch centre mandatory for all licensed drivers, preventing free operation outside the system. It will also bar simultaneous taxi and VTC services like Uber using the same vehicle or branding. Forné met with the three or four drivers expelled from the Associació de Taxistes d’Andorra (ATA) for Uber collaboration and urged them to leave the platform for sector coherence, though parallel private VTC work outside taxi hours remains allowed as they are self-employed.
Talks to merge the ATA and ATI into one association are advancing quickly, potentially concluding this month or next, further solidifying the modernised service.
