Andorra Taxi Service Launches Digital Booking Apps for Real-Time Rides

Andorra's taxi service has launched digital booking options through two mobile apps: the official Taxi Andorra application and the Mobility section of CityXerpa. Both platforms connect directly to the Taxi Reservation Centre (CRT), enabling users to request rides without relying on phone calls or WhatsApp messages.

The new systems allow passengers to track vehicles in real time, view details of the assigned car, see estimated arrival times and schedule trips in advance. Available in Catalan, Spanish, French and English, the apps aim to serve both residents and visitors. They provide an indicative fare estimate, though the final price is set by the taximeter. Payments remain unchanged, handled directly with drivers in cash or by card, with in-app payment options planned for later phases alongside additional features.

Previously, bookings were managed mainly by telephone or messaging. This rollout adds digital channels while preserving existing ones, developed in collaboration with taxi associations under the CRT's centralised model, which pools service requests.

The digitalisation process has unfolded gradually amid sector debates over the single management approach and its requirements for drivers. Rules prohibit CRT-affiliated taxis from operating on platforms like Uber simultaneously, leading to the expulsion of four professionals for using such services.
