**Andorra's police launch targeted road safety checks on two-wheeled vehicles and personal mobility devices until 22 May**

Police in Andorra began a new road safety campaign on Monday, focusing on motorcycles, mopeds, bicycles, and personal mobility vehicles such as scooters. The operation will run for three weeks, ending on 22 May.

Officers aim to inspect the technical and administrative conditions of these vehicles while identifying driver errors or violations. Priorities include overtaking across solid lines, speeding, and ignoring traffic signs or lights. Checks will occur on both urban and interurban roads.

The initiative responds to rising use of these vehicles with warmer weather, which police describe as a "critical period" for road accidents. This seasonal increase has led to more police responses, including complaints about public road noise and crashes involving injuries. Drivers of these vehicles face heightened risks and suffer injuries at high rates.

Inspections will cover several areas: noise, gas, and pollutant emissions within legal limits; valid driving permits, insurance, and ITV stickers; proper condition of tyres, exhaust pipes, and mirrors; adherence to passenger transport rules; use of approved helmets and gloves securely fastened; and overall compliance with the Road Traffic Code.

Police emphasise that the effort seeks to promote prevention, safer driving, and better road coexistence, ultimately aiming to cut accident numbers.
