Andorra Public Transport Trips Hit 2.97M Jan-Apr, Up 0.3%

Public transport usage in Andorra reached 2,969,654 trips from January to April, marking a 0.3% increase compared to the same period last year when the figure stood at 2,961,906.

The Statistics Department released the data, drawn from Industry Ministry figures. Coopalsa handled the majority of validations at 2,165,959, accounting for 72.9% of the total, though this represented a 1.1% decline year-on-year. Nadal managed 803,695 validations, or 27.1%, with a 4.2% rise over the prior year.

Service frequency also grew across the board. Weekday trips averaged 819, up 10.5% from last year. Saturdays saw an average of 526 trips, a 9.5% increase, while Sundays and holidays averaged 503, reflecting a 16.6% gain. The network maintains 11 lines, including eight regular and three nighttime routes.

Subsidized trips comprised 79% of the total over the four months, up 1.8 percentage points from 77.6% the previous year. Government spending on subsidies totaled €2,669,215, a 2% increase from €2,617,068 in the same period of 2025.

April showed a contrasting trend, with 653,987 validations—a 2.6% drop or 17,176 fewer trips than the prior year. Nadal recorded about 196,802 validations, up 4.7%, while Coopalsa logged 457,185, down 5.4%. Weekday averages reached 772 trips, up 3.1%; Sundays and holidays averaged 433, up 0.5%; but Saturdays fell to 470, a 5.2% decrease.

Subsidies covered 568,850 April trips, or 87% of the total, compared to 83% last year—a 4.7 percentage point rise. The monthly subsidy amount was €646,797, up 2% year-on-year despite being €79,713 less than March.
