Andorra Police Arrest Multiple Drink-Drivers and Licence Violators

Police in Andorra detained several drivers last week for serious traffic violations, including high alcohol levels, driving on a suspended licence, and drug possession at border crossings.

A standout incident occurred early Tuesday on the CG-2 road, where officers responded to a citizen's alert about a vehicle swerving across lanes. The 59-year-old driver tested at 1.99 grams of alcohol per litre of blood and was arrested.

That same Tuesday morning, during a routine checkpoint in Andorra la Vella, police stopped a van driver who registered 1.07 grams per litre, leading to his detention. Breath tests extended into Friday morning, when officers pulled over a female motorist for driving without mandatory headlights. She recorded 1.48 grams per litre and faced arrest.

In a separate case, authorities apprehended a 53-year-old man driving despite a suspended licence, classifying it as an offence against the administration of justice.

At the Riu Runer border, two arrests unfolded during the week. A 25-year-old non-resident was detained for ignoring an administrative expulsion order, an offence against public function. Another man, entering the Principat in his personal vehicle, was caught with a package holding 1.05 grams of cocaine, resulting in his detention on suspicion of a public health violation.

The operations ended with three drink-driving arrests alongside these other cases. No additional information on charges or court appearances has been disclosed.
