Police in Andorra arrested five people over the weekend for various offences, including domestic violence, drink-driving and breaching an expulsion order.
A 30-year-old man was detained on Sunday evening in Sant Julià de Lòria on suspicion of a physical assault in a domestic setting. Officers responded to reports of loud shouting and banging from a home, where the suspect—showing signs of alcohol consumption—initially confronted them defiantly after repeated knocking. Inside, they found he had thrown his mother to the ground and punched his father in the face. The parents told police the altercation began when their son returned home agitated over issues with his partner and demanded wine.
Earlier that Sunday afternoon in the same parish, authorities arrested a 54-year-old man after he crashed into urban furniture, causing material damage only. A breath test showed a blood alcohol level of 0.99 g/l, leading to charges of endangering public safety.
Saturday night saw two drink-driving arrests in Andorra la Vella as part of a routine campaign. A 40-year-old man registered 1.09 g/l. The second involved a 52-year-old who fled on a motorcycle after officers warned him not to drive due to intoxication. He lost control at traffic lights, fell off, initially refused a test but later gave a reading of 1.42 g/l.
The weekend's first detention occurred Friday afternoon at Pas de la Casa, where officers stopped a 32-year-old man violating an active government expulsion order. He was held on suspicion of obstructing public authority.
Police have not released further details on the cases, which remain under investigation.
