Andorran police arrested two tourists on Saturday afternoon at the Pas de la Casa border crossing with the DCNJ after a sniffer dog detected drugs hidden in the woman's handbag and genital area.
The suspects—a 31-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman—were entering the Principality in a car for a tourist visit. Officers informed them of a narcotics check using a trained dog, and both stated they were not users or carriers of any substances.
The dog alerted strongly to the woman's handbag and her genital region. The bag contained two ecstasy pills, two precision scales, a package holding 60 small airtight bags for dosing narcotics, and a glass jar with a red substance used to colour and scent drugs.
A female officer then conducted a more detailed search, during which the woman voluntarily surrendered a wallet concealed in her intimate areas. It held six more ecstasy pills, 31.13 grams of ketamine, and 4.44 grams of MDMA.
Police described the drugs as intended for sale. Authorities have not disclosed the pair's nationalities or details on charges.
The incident took place during routine controls at one of Andorra's busiest border points. Separately, police reported four other arrests over the weekend: a 48-year-old resident on Friday for alleged domestic violence against his partner, who showed signs of injury including bloodied lips and neck bruising; two men aged 30 and 31 on Friday and Sunday for breaching a driving ban; and two men aged 34 and 36 early Saturday for drunk driving with alcohol levels of 1.88 g/l and 1.77 g/l, the latter also charged with property damage to a parking barrier in Andorra la Vella.
