Thieves Steal 4 Luxury SUVs from Andorra Garage, Ram Police Cars in Chase

Thieves stole four luxury SUVs worth around €600,000 from a workshop annex on Andorra la Vella's Carretera de la Comella early Sunday morning, forcing entry through an unsecured section under renovation and using frequency jammers to block GPS tracking.

Police sources describe a highly organized operation, with investigators now believing the group conducted prior reconnaissance at the target site and other high-end dealerships and sales centers in Andorra. They assessed security measures—or lack thereof—and vehicle inventories, selecting specific models despite having to maneuver around higher-value cars to access them. The annex, recently the business's sole facility, lacked standard protections like alarms and cameras, while the main building had basic safeguards.

At least four or five suspects, wearing gloves but no face coverings, pried open a door with a crowbar-like tool to reach a key box. They took two vehicles owned by the business, one from a client, and one linked to a staff member, then drove toward Spain. At a reinforced Mossos d'Esquadra checkpoint on the N-145 roundabout in La Seu d'Urgell, three were intercepted—a Mercedes G63, another Mercedes G-Class, and a Porsche GT3. The G63 mounted the roundabout, severely damaging one patrol car beyond repair and another with bodywork issues. The BMW M4 CS escaped via high-speed maneuvers but was later abandoned in a Badalona parking lot, tracked by an independent AirTag despite the jammers.

Two Ukrainian men, aged 40 to 50 and driving the second Mercedes and Porsche, were arrested Sunday. La Seu d'Urgell's duty judge ordered their provisional detention without bail in Lleida's Ponent prison on Monday, citing flight risk due to no fixed Spanish addresses. They face charges of reckless driving, disobedience, assault on authority, and criminal group membership. The pair claimed they received the vehicles and keys on commission, a story dismissed by prosecutors. No prior Spanish records exist for them, but evidence points to an Eastern European network with defined roles, including possible local collaborators for reconnaissance—though no involvement from the affected business's current or former staff is suspected. Police quickly interviewed workers hours after the theft.

The G63 driver and at least one other suspect remain at large. Investigators have contacted other dealerships for pre-incident footage or suspicious sightings. Andorran police, alerted around 7am Sunday, pursue the theft separately and plan an extradition request post-Spanish proceedings. Mossos and Andorran forces probe accomplices and entry details.

The incident, the first of its kind in Andorra, has prompted high-end car dealers to heighten vigilance without widespread security overhauls. Concerns grow over an influx of inexperienced sales centers exposing luxury vehicles—now often customized at exorbitant prices—and shifting networks once rare in the Principat due to its borders.
