Thieves Steal 4 Luxury SUVs from Andorra Garage, Ram Police Cars in Chase

Thieves forced their way into a workshop-garage in Andorra la Vella's Comella area early Friday, stealing four high-end off-road SUVs with Andorran plates that were there for repairs.

Andorran police learned of the theft around 7am from Mossos d'Esquadra, after officers stopped one of the drivers during a routine checkpoint in La Seu d'Urgell tied to the town's major festival. The control revealed an Andorran-plated vehicle, prompting Mossos to contact their Andorran counterparts. Agents then reached the owner and workshop, uncovering that three additional cars had been taken, for a total of four.

The initial stop occurred shortly before 5:45am on the N-145 near the Andorra border entry point. Rather than halting, the driver rammed Mossos patrol cars at the roundabout, severely damaging two vehicles. No officers were injured.

Suspects abandoned the SUVs and fled on foot, leading to a foot chase by Catalan police. Officers recovered three vehicles on the spot and detained at least two individuals, thought to specialize in luxury car thefts and possibly from Eastern Europe. One suspect was held from the La Seu stop, with the vehicle in Mossos custody.

About 90 minutes after the incident, Mossos shared registration details with Andorran police, confirming the losses with owners—including prominent athletes based in Andorra. Using GPS data from one owner, authorities later tracked the fourth SUV to Badalona, where they arrested at least one more suspect.

The case now falls under Mossos jurisdiction since it unfolded in Spain. Andorran police and workshop owners have yet to confirm formal theft reports, expected early next week. Mossos d'Esquadra and Andorran authorities continue a joint investigation. No details have surfaced on suspects' identities or exact vehicle models.
