Andorra Police Launch Noise Crackdown on Modified Vehicles

Andorra la Vella police will launch a road safety campaign on Monday, 28 September, targeting excessive vehicle noise, particularly from motorcycles and cars with unauthorised exhaust modifications. The operation will continue until 11 October, with checks conducted day and night across urban and interurban roads.

The initiative aims to identify and penalise drivers breaching regulations that disturb residents. Officers will intensify routine surveillance to address vehicles emitting noise, exhaust gases or other pollutants above legal limits. This includes unnecessary accelerations, forced gear shifts or engine revving that create disturbances.

Special attention will go to exhaust systems that deviate from factory originals without approval in the vehicle's circulation permit. Police will also target free-flowing, incomplete, damaged or non-standard exhausts.

The force has noted repeated issues at various points on the road network, prompted by public complaints. It is collaborating with traffic services across Andorra's parishes to enforce compliance.

Citizens can assist by submitting video evidence of clear violations to policia@policia.ad, where the Road Safety Unit will assess it for follow-up action.
