A 51-year-old motorcyclist resident in Andorra remains in critical condition at La Seu d'Urgell hospital following a violent collision with a car on the N-145 on Sunday afternoon.

The crash occurred around 7:15-7:30pm at kilometre 0.3, just after the roundabout exiting La Seu d'Urgell towards Andorra, at the start of the uphill dual carriageway. It involved a BMW K1600 GT motorcycle—initially heading upwards—and an Abarth car, both registered in Andorra. The impact was frontal-lateral, leaving both vehicles severely damaged.

Emergency services responded quickly, deploying Mossos d'Esquadra officers, two fire trucks from the Generalitat, ground ambulances, and a medicalised helicopter from the Sistema d'Emergències Mèdiques (SEM). The road was fully closed in both directions to allow assistance and ensure safety, causing major tailbacks—particularly inbound to Andorra—affecting traffic from Puigcerdà and Ponts. Alternate single-lane passage was not restored until about two hours later.

The motorcyclist suffered life-threatening injuries and could not be stabilised for air evacuation. Nearly two hours after the crash, he was transported by ground ambulance to La Seu hospital, where his condition stayed critical. The car's occupants sustained minor injuries.

No details have emerged on the crash's cause. Authorities continue investigating.
