Andorra Relaunches Tender for Bus Network Study After Incomplete Bid

The Andorran government has relaunched a tender for a strategic study on restructuring the public bus network and ensuring compatibility with a future tramway, after the original process was declared void due to an incomplete bid.

Only one company submitted an offer for the contract, first published in June, but it did not provide all required documentation, according to government sources cited by ANA. This led to the tender being formally declared desert in an edict published in Wednesday's Butlletí Oficial del Principat d'Andorra (BOPA). A second edict in the same edition announced the new call under identical terms and criteria.

Officials aim to award the contract as quickly as possible, in the hope that the previous bidder corrects its documentation errors and submits a compliant offer, while inviting additional proposals. The study is considered essential for enhancing bus operations and infrastructure, including analysis of dedicated corridors, stop locations and space reservations for the tram route.

The executive views the evaluation as critical for modernising public transport by integrating existing bus services with long-term segregated systems like the tram. No specific timeline for the new adjudication has been released, though sources stress urgency in progressing the work.
