Andorran Councillor Laia Moliné Requests Details on Cable Car and Tram Projects

Laia Moliné, a general councillor from the Social Democratic Party (PS) parliamentary group, has submitted a formal request to the Andorran government for detailed information on the status and prospects of potential cable transport projects in the Principat.

Registered today with the General Council, the inquiry seeks all available data on the viability of systems such as cable cars (telecabina), trams, or equivalent options as alternatives or additions to current mobility networks. Moliné asks whether any technical studies or preliminary analyses exist, including their dates, the companies responsible, and public funds spent. She requires specifics on routes under consideration, impacted areas, mobility goals, and main conclusions—covering technical feasibility, projected costs, transport capacity, and anticipated demand.

The request also demands comparisons between these models and existing bus services, along with the executive's current position: whether the projects are still being studied, discarded, or part of future planning. It highlights any contacts or proposals from private operators, as well as the government's intentions for integrating such systems into Andorra's public transport network.

Moliné's initiative aims to ensure transparency on developments that could affect residents' daily lives and to inform public debate on mobility amid increasing traffic congestion and sustainability challenges. The government has not yet responded.
