Andorran PS Councillor Laia Moliné Questions Government on Cable Car and Tram Feasibility

Laia Moliné, a general councillor for the Social Democratic Party (PS), has lodged a parliamentary question with the Andorran government seeking comprehensive details on the feasibility of cable-based transport systems, such as cable cars (telecabina), trams, or similar options, as potential supplements to existing mobility infrastructure.

Filed today with the General Council by the PS parliamentary group, the request calls for any technical studies or preliminary assessments, including their dates, the firms involved, and public funding used. It specifies information on analysed routes, affected zones, mobility objectives, and key findings, covering technical viability, estimated expenses, transport capacity, and expected usage.

Moliné's query also presses the executive to disclose comparisons with other models, including bus services, and to state its current stance—whether such initiatives remain under review, have been ruled out, or feature in upcoming plans. Particular emphasis falls on any outreach or bids from private operators, alongside the government's intentions for linking these systems to Andorra's public transport framework.

The move seeks to promote openness around initiatives that could reshape daily life for residents, fostering debate on mobility solutions amid rising traffic pressures and sustainability priorities. No response from the government is available yet.
