Multiple Vehicle Crashes Disrupt Andorra la Vella in 24 Hours

A Spanish-registered car crashed into a shop window on Doctor Molines street in Andorra la Vella early Saturday, causing extensive damage to the glass frontage of a private security firm.

The incident occurred near the entrance to the Pyrénées shopping centre car park, in premises previously occupied by a motorcycle museum promoted by rider Jorge Lorenzo. Witnesses described the vehicle reversing with considerable force into the display window, shattering the large glass panel. The car sustained minor damage by comparison. After the driver left the scene, staff from the affected business, assisted by Andorra la Vella traffic agents, secured the broken window with cardboard and duct tape to prevent further hazards.

Police are investigating the circumstances, which remain unclear.

In a separate early-morning crash on the same day, a Spanish-plated vehicle driven by a local female resident veered off course and struck the low wall surrounding the Borda Bastida roundabout at the junction of Avinguda Santa Coloma and Carrer Gil Torres in Andorra la Vella. The collision happened around 6:45am, leaving the car heavily damaged.

The driver, who police suspect had been drinking, tested positive with a breathalyser reading of 1.0 but challenged the result. Taken to hospital for a suspected whiplash injury, she requested a blood test, which showed an even higher alcohol level. She was arrested on charges related to public safety offences.

Emergency responders included Andorra la Vella traffic agents managing diversions on the busy access route, police accident investigators, multiple fire crews with an ambulance to treat the occupants, and a cleanup truck.

Earlier on Friday afternoon, another incident unfolded further down Avinguda Santa Coloma at number 117, where a car pulling out from a petrol station struck an Andorran-registered motorbike carrying a father and his daughter. The impact threw the bike onto the girl's lower limb, causing injuries. Medical services, police and traffic agents attended.

On the same day around 1:45pm, a 39-year-old Andorran man riding a motorbike on a suspended licence lost control on the uphill CS-220 to Cortals d'Encamp at kilometre 2.7, near the Camí de les Pardines junction. He clipped the wing mirror of an oncoming foreign-registered car before tumbling several metres down an embankment into a stream, suffering moderate injuries.

Firefighters descended to treat him on site—he was conscious and mobile—before SUM paramedics took him to hospital. Encamp traffic officers, police patrols and accident specialists secured the area. The car's downhill driver raised the alarm. Police continue to examine the cause.
