Traffic congestion continues to plague Andorra's borders and main roads on Sunday, with a new accident on France's N-22 causing kilometre-long queues stretching to the Pas de la Casa, on top of persistent delays at the Spanish border.

The collision on the French side has led to major backups for vehicles entering Andorra, particularly affecting skiers heading to Pas de la Casa and shoppers in commercial areas, according to eyewitness reports. Images show lines of stationary cars and very slow movement along the affected stretch. Authorities remind drivers that special equipment remains mandatory on the RN22 and RN320 due to adverse conditions.

Earlier on Saturday evening, the Mobility Service reported dense southbound traffic on the CG-1 toward the Spain-Andorra border at Riu Runer, along with congestion at the Encamp, Canillo, and El Tarter entrances on the CG-2, and the Massana entrance on the CG-4.

Saturday morning saw northbound queues of one to two kilometres on Spain's N-145 at Riu Runer, centred around Farga de Moles, as tourists arrived for year-end shopping and stays. Officials expected these to build through the day amid high holiday volumes.

The previous day, Sant Esteve, brought southbound delays on the CG-1 from around 6.30pm toward Riu Runer, with queues exceeding two kilometres. Northbound hold-ups hit the CG-1 near Sant Julià de Lòria's commercial zone in the morning, while short-lived southbound queues formed briefly at Encamp and Canillo on the CG-2 before clearing.

Yellow-phase restrictions persist on the Envalira pass owing to snow, requiring winter tyres or equivalent and capping speeds at 60 km/h.

The Mobility Service links the disruptions to peak holiday travel by residents departing and tourists arriving, advising drivers to check live updates and follow signs.
