Ordino Negotiates Renewal of Prat de Vilella Pay Parking Lease Amid Ownership Dispute
Ordino parish council advances talks to renew lease for key pay parking lot, securing two-thirds from one owner but risking 20 spaces from the.
Key Points
- Negotiations secure two-thirds of Prat de Vilella lot at higher rate; one-third (20 spaces) unresolved.
- Disputed section near Ordino Sports Centre; land unsuitable for construction.
- Prat de Vilella opened 2018 with 60+ spaces; follows closures of Clota Verda and Camp de la Tanada.
- New 100-space lot planned at Plana dels Camps for future growth.
The Ordino parish council is continuing negotiations to renew the lease for part of the Prat de Vilella pay parking lot, located at the village entrance. Talks with one of the two family owners—who holds two-thirds of the land—have already resulted in a new contract at a slightly higher rate than before. However, no agreement has been reached with the second owner, who controls the remaining third, potentially putting around 20 parking spaces at risk.
The disputed section lies closest to the roundabout, directly below the Ordino Sports Centre. Sources indicate discussions are progressing positively after several months, though nothing is finalized. The land does not meet urban planning standards for construction, limiting alternative uses.
Opened in March 2018, Prat de Vilella was Ordino's first outdoor pay parking facility, converted from a green-zone free parking area. It currently offers just over 60 spaces.
This follows closures of two other lots in the past 18 months. In November 2023, the Clota Verda parking shut down after the owner pursued a property development project; the council offset the loss by creating green-zone spaces on Carrer del Lloser. Similarly, the Camp de la Tanada lot in central Ordino closed in June 2023 for the same reason, with its spaces replaced by converting the Prat de Call motorhome area into car parking. Motorhomes relocated to Prat de Sedó in La Cortinada.
To address ongoing needs, Ordino plans a new 100-space outdoor lot and 1,000 square metres of green zone at Plana dels Camps, near the secondary school— an area earmarked for future village growth.
