The Encamp parish council has disbursed 33,000 euros in aid to businesses in Pas de la Casa affected by the closure of the French RN20 road due to a landslide.
This total includes 29,000 euros in direct grants awarded to five out of nine applications, each eligible for up to 10,000 euros upon proof of losses. The council also approved 26 out of 28 requests for tax rebates on establishment fees and hygiene charges, amounting to 4,000 euros.
These measures form part of a broader support package launched by the council to ease the economic impact on local commerce and hospitality during the winter season disruption. A budget of 1.56 million euros has been allocated specifically for direct aid to qualifying businesses.
Applications remain open until 1 September. Deputy Consul Xavier Fernàndez noted that the council has additionally funded a shuttle bus service to L'Hospitalet to maintain connectivity while the road was closed.
