Andorra Approves €302K Aid for Businesses Hit by Pas de la Casa Landslide Closure

The Andorran government has finalized processing on its emergency aid package for businesses affected by the RN-20 road closure—the main access route from France—disrupted by a landslide from 31 January to 8 March in Pas de la Casa during peak ski season. The total approved spending amounts to €302,748, according to Economy, Presidency, Employment and Housing Minister Conxita Marsol at Wednesday's post-council of ministers press conference.

The latest approval covered €50,444.69 in social security contribution aid to the CASS for 16 cases, raising that category's total to €90,962.14. Fuel vouchers for French visitors who proved spending in Pas de la Casa accounted for the biggest share at €186,520, with €12,000 going to hauliers. Another €26,532 funded a free shuttle service from L'Hospitalet train station to Pas de la Casa, split between €13,000 from the government and the rest from Encamp parish. Aid also covered transport and tourism promotion, while electricity bill relief was handled separately by FEDA.

Of 35 applications by the 4 May deadline, 25 received approval, one was rejected for failing criteria, one was ruled inadmissible as late, and eight remain under document review. Marsol said these could conclude next week with the necessary submissions.

No requests came in for treasury aid to small shops, IGI deferrals or instalments, or other fiscal measures.

Processing now complete, the government will request parliamentary approval from the Consell General for an extraordinary credit against the compensation account, per public finance sustainability rules, to fund the nearly €300,000 and support economic recovery from the access issues.
