Andorra Retail Sales Up 1.4% in April, Driven by Non-Food Gains
Andorra's large retail outlets reported a 1.4% year-on-year sales increase in April, fueled by strong non-food growth despite food declines. Inflation-adjusted figures showed a 2% drop, while wider retail rose 2.2% on fuel demand.

Sales at Andorra's large retail outlets rose 1.4% in April from the same month a year earlier, driven by a 6.4% increase in non-food products that offset a 2.3% drop in food sales, according to figures released by the Department of Statistics.
Once adjusted for inflation, the sales index fell 2% year-on-year. Food sales declined 5.4% at constant prices, while non-food rose 2.7%. Compared to March, the current-price index dropped 4.5%, excluding seasonal and calendar effects.
Employment in these outlets grew 4.2% year-on-year and 0.6% month-on-month. Women made up 65.8% of the workforce and men 34.2%, with 91.3% holding full-time contracts.
Across the wider retail trade sector, sales increased 2.2% year-on-year, led by a 22.8% surge in fuel that countered declines of 2.1% in food and 5.8% in other products. At constant prices, the index gained 1.1%, though food fell 5.2%, other products 9% and fuel 5.7%.
Month-to-month, unadjusted sales decreased 8.5%, while the constant-price index dropped 8.9%. Fuel sales fell 19.2% and other products 12% from March.
Sector employment shrank 1.7% year-on-year and 2.1% from March. Women accounted for 59.7% of workers, down 2.2 percentage points from a year ago, while men represented 40.3%, up 3.4 points. Full-time contracts covered 86.7% of the workforce.
