Andorra CASS Candidate Àlex Lligé Files Complaint Over Name Errors in Voter Circulars

Àlex Lligé, a candidate for the Caixa Andorrana de Seguretat Social (CASS) board representing business owners and self-employed workers, will bring a complaint against the organisation to the electoral board over printing errors in voter information circulars sent by post.

The issue affects the business and self-employed electoral college ahead of the 17 June elections. Physical copies distributed since Monday list Lligé as "Alejandro Puig" instead of Àlex Lligé Puig, with his first surname shifted due to a tabulation problem that mixed in elements from neighbouring names. His substitute, Alexandre Ballestà Aliàs, appears as "Alexandre Alias", also impacted by the layout error. A third candidate's name from the CEA employers' group was correct in initial reports, though CASS's official erratum confirms broader tabulation issues across several names in the list, such as "Llige Cremidis, Oscar Enrique" and "Ballesta Puig, Alejandro".

Lligé spotted the mistakes on Monday after a contact alerted him and immediately notified monitors at an Ordino polling station, where early voting was underway. CASS contacted him shortly after, citing a printing fault and promising a quick fix. He called for distribution to halt, but received an uncorrected copy at his office on Wednesday. Staff then confirmed a stop order but said they were still probing the cause.

In an official statement released Thursday, 10 June, CASS attributed the errors solely to a printer tabulation glitch during production. Email versions sent to voters showed no issues. The organisation will reprint and resend corrected physical copies to all affected affiliates, excluding those who received emails, at the printer's expense. Board president Marc Galabert's accompanying letter will detail the problem and apologise to voters and candidates.

Galabert noted CASS provided the printer with an accurate template and that final proofs checked out correctly before the mishap. The circulars serve only as informational guides listing candidates and polling stations; they do not replace ballots or affect voting rights.

Lligé has called the errors "very unfair" and suggested they hinder his campaign, though he has not claimed intent. CASS expressed regret for any inconvenience and thanked those affected for their understanding. No public comment has followed the statement. Voting continues until 17 June.
