Andorra Electricity Demand Rises 1.5% in June Amid Heatwave

Electricity demand in Andorra rose 1.5% in June to 38,186 MWh, driven by higher national production despite reduced imports, according to data from the Statistics Department.

National output climbed 13.5% year-on-year to 17,233 MWh, while imports dropped 6.6% to 20,956 MWh. Among FEDA customers, usage increased 2.7% to 24,808.4 MWh. Key sectoral rises included ski resorts at 14.5% and other services at 5.2%, offset by a 10% decline in construction. Distribution saw 5% growth, financial services 4.3%, industry 2.9%, and hotels and restaurants 1.9%.

Over the first half of the year, FEDA clients consumed 193,061.7 MWh, up 0.4%, with financial services leading at 6.2% and distribution at 3.2%, despite a 17.5% fall in ski resorts. National first-half demand totalled 304,254 MWh, down 0.6% from 2025, as production rose 11% to 89,557 MWh and imports fell 4.7%. Across the past 12 months, demand reached 582,513 MWh, a 0.8% increase, backed by 9.7% higher domestic generation despite 1.8% lower imports.

Seasonally adjusted figures show national energy demand trending slightly upward, with a 0.1% rise in June, while FEDA clients recorded 0.4% growth.

In contrast, overall energy consumption in tonnes of oil equivalent fell 13.8% to 12,032.9 TEP, with electricity the only category up 2.2%. Drops included domestic fuel oil at 25.8%, transport diesel at 18.4%, and petrol at 14.9%. First-half totals stood at 97,458.8 TEP, down 5.6%, and the 12-month figure was 195,605.2 TEP, a 2.8% decline.
