Sant Julià de Lòria Approves €1.5M for Naturland Park Debt Deal

Parish council injects €1.5 million into Camprabassa SA to stabilize the Naturland theme park, buying time for private investors while restructuring €6-7 million in debt as capital amid unanimous support.

Key Points

  • €1.5M injection secures Naturland operations for over 20 months amid investor search.
  • Banks extend short-term debt; €6-7M council debt converts to capital.
  • Council prioritizes private investment to end public funding.
  • Without buyer, closure could cost €14-15M, burdening parish finances.

Sant Julià de Lòria parish council has approved a €1.5 million injection to Camprabassa SA, the operator of Naturland theme park, as part of a debt restructuring deal with financial institutions.

The funds will secure park operations for more than 20 months while intermediaries seek private investors. Consol Major Cerni Cairat described the step as integral to resolving Camprabassa's financial and patrimonial issues. Banks have agreed to shift some short-term debt to longer terms, and €6-7 million in council debt will convert to capital, with the precise figure pending.

Cairat stressed the council's priority: attracting private capital to end ongoing public funding. "Our top goal is finding private investment and freeing the parish financially from the company," he said. Without it, options include partial closures or an orderly shutdown, estimated at €14-15 million—including staff severance, site restoration at Rabassa, and debt repayment. Such costs, Cairat warned, would burden the parish's investment capacity for years.

The opposition backed the measure unanimously. Josep Majoral, a former leader, noted prior investor outreach during his term and voiced faith in Naturland as an economic driver for the parish.

Council leader Cairat highlighted active work on a master plan and investor search, underscoring that public support cannot continue indefinitely.

If no buyer emerges, the parish may scale back activities or close fully in a controlled manner.
