The Andorran government is accepting applications for one university student to participate in Japan's MIRAI programme, part of the Mutual Understanding, Intellectual Relations and Academic Exchange Initiative. The selected student will travel to Japan from 2 to 8 December 2026 as part of Group 3, focused on economics and business.

This initiative aims to enhance cultural knowledge of Japan, promote mutual understanding between nations, and encourage intellectual and academic exchanges. It targets students from Europe, Central Asia, and the Caucasus, divided into five thematic groups based on their fields of study. Japan covers the main travel and accommodation expenses.

Candidates must be Andorran nationals, at least 20 years old by the travel date, enrolled in a European higher education institution, able to prove strong English skills, and have a good academic record. The chosen participant must also attend two online training sessions prior to departure.

Detailed eligibility rules will be outlined in the official call, published in the Butlletí Oficial del Principat d’Andorra (BOPA). Students should submit a generic application by email to the Higher Education Area of the Ministry of Institutional Relations, Education and Universities at ensenyament.superior@govern.ad, noting interest in Group 3. Attachments must include the 2025-2026 academic transcript and proof of 2026-2027 enrolment.

The application window opens on the BOPA publication date and closes on 14 September 2026 at 23:59. Selection criteria prioritise academic performance (70%) and oral English proficiency (30%), evaluated during an interview on 16 September 2026 at the ministry's offices in Sant Julià de Lòria.
