Andorra Unemployment Drops 18.3% to Yearly Low of 197 in August

Andorra's Employment Service ended August with 197 registered job seekers, down 18.3% from 44 the previous year and 7.5% from July's 213. Job vacancies fell to 1,337, a 19.8% drop from July's 1,668 and 15.9% below August 2025's 1,589.

Among those seeking work, 160 were employed but looking for better positions, a decrease of 8.6% from July's 175 and 14.4% from 187 a year earlier. Demandants de serveis numbered 72, including one on medical leave for over six months, with 71 in employment. The 40-59 age group led at 77 (39.1%), followed by 46 aged 26-39 and 28 over 59. Women totaled 99 and men 98, with Andorrans at 51.3% and Spaniards at 22.8%. Nearly 80% had been jobless for less than six months.

Vacancies concentrated in industry and construction (39%), followed by services, hospitality, security, and sales (23%). In August, the service facilitated five hires, temporary programs added five more, and 40 found work independently. Unemployment benefit recipients remained at 13, matching July and up from 12 a year ago; eight were women, five men, and 69.2% Andorran.

These figures align with the second-quarter 2026 Labour Force Survey, showing a 0.9% unemployment rate for ages 15-74—down 0.6 points from the prior quarter and stable year-over-year, impacting 535 people. Employment for ages 15-64 hit 82.4% (54,220 workers), with men at 83.8% and women at 80.9%. Youth employment (15-24) rose to 32.1%, up 8.9 points from 2025. Unemployment stood higher for men (0.5%) than women (0.3%), and at 2.8% for ages 15-24. Inactivity for ages 15-64 edged up to 16.8% (11,040 people).

Andorra's 0.9% rate stayed below neighbours: Spain at 9.9% and France at 7.9%. The Department of Statistics released the survey data.
