Spanish Guardia Civil officers and Tax Agency officials seized 1,494 undeclared cigars valued at more than €25,000 from a passenger on a regular bus at the Farga de Moles border crossing on 13 September.
The incident occurred during a routine customs inspection around 5pm. Agents stopped the vehicle from Andorra and asked the driver and passengers if anyone carried goods needing declaration. Everyone denied it.
A search revealed the cigars—various brands—inside a suitcase belonging to a 37-year-old man. He acknowledged purchasing them in Andorra but admitted failing to declare them.
Officers transferred the items to Tax Agency facilities for evaluation of their characteristics and worth. Proceedings have begun for a suspected smuggling offence, with the cigars held at the Farga de Moles post awaiting judicial decision.
The operation was carried out by fiscal patrol officers from the Guardia Civil alongside Tax Agency personnel.
