Andorra Chamber of Commerce hosts session on using AI for data-driven business decisions

The Andorra Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Services has organised a session titled Data Intelligence: Smart Decisions for Competitive Businesses, focusing on how local firms can leverage artificial intelligence to manage data effectively.

Director Sol Rossell emphasised that understanding and controlling AI is essential, as it requires human oversight. "The key is knowing how it works and keeping it in check, since it needs human help," she said. She added that AI will not replace jobs.

Rossell highlighted that companies handle vast amounts of data, and success depends on organising it, transmitting it securely, and establishing strong governance for the teams involved. Once mastered, she said, data becomes a major competitive edge. While large firms likely have an advantage, smaller businesses should embrace AI without fear.

"The question isn't whether we use it more or less, but how," Rossell reflected. She urged caution with information shared with AI systems, advising against providing names, sensitive data or anything compromising.

Proceeding gradually is vital, she noted: "We must go step by step; no need to rush faster than we can manage." Her comments align with similar warnings from Madrid executive Andrés López, who is due to speak Thursday at 7pm at Smart Coworking on efficient AI integration, stressing clear use cases, oversight and cost tracking to avoid pitfalls like data breaches or runaway expenses.

Both speakers advocate measured adoption: AI excels at processing high volumes of repetitive data tasks—such as sorting emails, extracting details and drafting responses—while humans retain final responsibility. Risks include over-sharing data, inadequate error checks or unreliable providers, but proper steps can free time, reduce mistakes and sharpen decisions.
