Ordino Council Offers Support for Querola Rebuild After Fire
Ordino parish council expresses willingness to collaborate with Querola property owners on post-fire reconstruction, pending damage evaluations and owner decisions on repair or demolition.
Key Points
- Ordino's Cònsol Major Maria del Mar Coma extends 'open hand' to Querola developers.
- Damage assessments by experts and insurers pending before formal talks.
- Council ready to review permits once owners clarify rebuild intentions.
- Querola seen as key parish asset, with potential safety reviews ahead.
Ordino's local council has reiterated its openness to working with Querola developers on reconstruction after a recent fire, while stressing that damage assessments and formal contacts remain pending.
Cònsol Major Maria del Mar Coma conveyed the parish's supportive position during a Wednesday statement, describing an "extended hand" to the property owners. She welcomed any decision to proceed, noting the project's importance to the community. "If the property decides to rebuild, we're delighted—it's a sufficiently significant development for the council to celebrate efforts to repair or renovate it," she said.
Coma emphasised that no formal discussions have occurred yet, and key details are still unclear. Experts and insurers must first evaluate the site's condition to identify what needs repair, demolition, or replacement. "We lack a great deal of information about what must be reconstructed or if anything needs to be torn down," she pointed out.
Only after owners clarify their intentions—"what they want to do or not do"—can the council review permit applications or documentation requirements. "If renovation is the path, they'll need to pursue that route and see what paperwork is required. If it doesn't prove worthwhile, we'll examine next steps carefully," Coma added.
She described current talks as premature without this groundwork. The fire could also invite heightened safety reviews, potentially involving Civil Protection alongside the Industry department, though such issues lie outside the council's direct purview.
The council regards the Querola as a key parish asset and stands ready to assist once developers engage officially.
