The 37th Trobada Empresarial al Pirineu opens on 11 June at the Palau Municipal d’Esports in La Seu d’Urgell, drawing nearly 900 business leaders, entrepreneurs, officials, and academics from Catalonia, Andorra, and regions including La Franja, el Bages, and l’Anoia. Under the theme ‘El nou mapa econòmic mundial: quin camí prenem’, sessions will examine geopolitical tensions, disruptions to global value chains, and technological shifts reshaping the economy.
Catalan president Salvador Illa will open proceedings on Thursday morning, followed by an inaugural keynote from former Italian prime minister Matteo Renzi. Andorran head of government Xavier Espot will launch Friday’s programme. The event wraps up midday on 12 June with a closing address from a Spanish government representative, expected to be a minister.
Thursday features a panel on longstanding Lleida firms, including representatives from Mirasan i Monlau, Castell del Remei, Romero Polo, and Premier Pigs, alongside emerging Catalan and Andorran startups focused on innovation and artificial intelligence. Friday includes an economists’ roundtable with Guillem López of UPF and analyst Estefania Molina, moderated by Manuel Pérez of La Vanguardia. A business strategy session follows with HIPRA representatives, Naturhouse founder Félix Revuelta, and Tendam CEO and president Jaume Miquel. The agenda peaks with a high-level geopolitics discussion featuring CIDOB president and former EU High Representative Josep Borrell alongside ex-European Commission vice-president Margaritis Schinas.
This edition shifts to a Thursday morning-to-Friday midday format, creating more time for networking before and after sessions. Side events include a pre-event dinner for sponsors and the traditional Festa de la Trobada on Friday evening.
Trobada president Montse Pujol highlighted the event’s role in uncertain times, noting that companies face major geopolitical and digital challenges. “We need certainties to advance our strategic plans, but today the uncertainties are many and we lack security about which path to take,” she said. She added that strong connections offer a competitive edge, one the forum aims to emphasise. Since 1990, the gathering has drawn over 500 speakers and 10,000 participants, solidifying its status as a vital hub for debate and alliances in Catalonia and Andorra.
