Alfred Alcón Beltrán Appointed CASS IT Director

Alfred Alcón Beltrán, a former executive at Crèdit Andorrà, has taken over as the new director of information systems at Andorra's Social Security Fund (CASS).

The CASS board of directors approved his appointment a few weeks ago, placing the 57-year-old engineer in charge of the organisation's entire technology operations. Alcón, who holds a degree in telecommunications engineering from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya and a master's in financial instruments and markets from the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, brings more than 20 years of experience in technology management and innovation within the financial sector.

He previously worked under Josep Escoriza, the current CASS director general, during their time together at Crèdit Andorrà. Both left the bank during periods of senior management changes. Alcón was one of Escoriza's trusted deputies at the time.

Prior to joining CASS, Alcón served as a tenured professor at the University of Andorra and was part of its technology research group. He is expected to maintain some compatibility with those roles alongside his new responsibilities.

Alcón succeeds Xavier Morera, who had replaced Alexander Beening several years ago. Morera resigned from the director position a few months back but remains on the CASS team.

An avid chess enthusiast and certified judge in the strategic board game, Alcón's hiring continues a pattern of former Crèdit Andorrà staff assuming leadership roles at the public institution.
