A 22-year-old Andorran entrepreneur named Jan has developed Rumbeo, a mobile app designed to streamline nightlife planning by providing reliable details on nightclubs and bars. One of 13 projects awarded grants under the 2025 JovEmpren programme, the app is set for beta launch next month.
Rumbeo focuses exclusively on nightlife venues, offering users key information such as locations, atmospheres, music genres, prices, capacities, and ratings from other users. "It helps people make better decisions before heading out," Jan explained, aiming to overhaul how nights out are organised.
The idea emerged during a trip with friends, when online searches yielded outdated or mismatched results—one spot had long closed, another fell short of expectations. Frustrated by unreliable information, the La Massana native saw an opportunity to fill a market gap. While similar apps exist for tourism, none target nightlife comprehensively, positioning Rumbeo as a pioneering tool.
The app features a straightforward, scalable monetisation model to support growth into new cities and countries. Its initial beta, planned for February, will cover Andorra, Catalonia, the Balearic Islands, and Madrid—spanning over 60 cities and around 500 venues. This phase aims to test the product and enable steady expansion.
Building the startup solo has been challenging, especially with Jan's background in primary education rather than tech. He initially partnered with a designer to shape the user experience, and now works with a programmer to bring the app to life. "It's a constant learning process," he said.
