The Canillo parish council will meet this week with Economy, Housing, and Labour Minister Conxita Marsol to advance plans for 100 to 200 housing units targeted at seasonal ski workers in areas like Soldeu and El Tarter.

Cònsol Major Jordi Alcobé outlined the proposal in an interview with the Andorran News Agency (ANA), noting that the session will focus on sharing the concept and exploring next steps. The idea originated during the previous administration under Francesc Camp and addresses the influx of around 2,000 workers each ski season. Alcobé emphasised that these employees have distinct needs from year-round residents, allowing for adapted conditions while upholding rigorous quality levels.

He highlighted the importance of dignified housing to prevent the poor conditions—such as tents or caravans—observed at other resorts. The development would release apartments now occupied by temporary staff, making them available for permanent locals. Although land remains unavailable, partial development plans are in progress. Alcobé aims for completion next year or within two years.

Alcobé added that several other parishes have shown interest in pursuing comparable projects.
