Consumer prices in Andorra rose 2.8% year‑on‑year in November, up 0.1 percentage point from October and the highest reading so far this year, the Department of Statistics reported. On a monthly basis the consumer price index (CPI) increased 0.3%, driven mainly by housing and transport costs. Core inflation, which excludes energy and fresh food, remained elevated at 3.1%, unchanged from October.
The largest contribution came from housing: the "Housing, water, gas, electricity and other fuels" group posted a 5.2% annual increase as rents continued their upward trend. Transport costs rose 1.2% year‑on‑year, propelled by more expensive fuels and lubricants. Food and non‑alcoholic beverages climbed to 1.9% annually, with notable price rises for milk, cheeses, eggs and fruit.
Among special groups, petroleum products remained in negative territory at -1.9% year‑on‑year, though they improved compared with the prior month; energy overall recorded an annual variation of -0.9%. Fresh products registered a positive annual change of 2.4%.
Some moderation was seen in the "goods and services — miscellaneous" group, which eased by half a percentage point to 4.5%, helped by lower prices for certain personal items. Inflation accumulated since January stands at 2.7%.
Statisticians noted that part of November’s strong year‑on‑year increase reflects sharp falls in prices during November 2024, a comparison that amplifies the current reading. Compared with neighbouring countries, Andorra’s twelve‑month inflation is slightly below Spain’s 3.0% but well above France’s 0.9%.
