Diocese of Urgell Fills All 300 Spots for Pope Leo XIV Prayer Vigil in Barcelona

The Diocese of Urgell has filled all 300 available spots for its faithful to attend a prayer vigil with Pope Leo XIV on 9 June at Barcelona's Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys.

The seats, provided by the Archdiocese of Barcelona, went to lay participants from various parishes and pastoral groups across the diocese. Church officials described the response as widely positive. This vigil marks the only event during the papal visit open to laypeople from other dioceses, in line with organizers' guidelines.

The following day's Mass on 10 June at the Sagrada Família Basilica will not accept general registrations. Access is limited to a small group of priests and deacons from Catalan dioceses.

To assist those registered, the Diocese of Urgell will run a coach with 56 seats, allocated on a first-come, first-served basis until 3 June. Reservations can be made through the diocese's General Secretariat or by email.

The coach departs at 1pm from Plaça de les Arcades in Andorra la Vella, followed by stops at La Seu d'Urgell bus station at 1.30pm, Restaurant Boncompte in Ponts at 2.20pm, and the BonÀrea area in Guissona at 2.40pm.

Attendees must enter the stadium by 5pm, with preliminary events starting at 6pm and the vigil around 8pm. No meal stops are planned, so participants should bring their own food for the stadium stay.
