Initiatives include handball expansion in Pas de la Casa, school-area repaving by 2026, intergenerational

Encamp's local council has approved ten proposals from the Children's Council, aimed at enhancing sports opportunities, public spaces, intergenerational activities, and arts projects across the parish, including Pas de la Casa.

The session took place on Monday at the Casa Comú, where officials reviewed the young councillors' suggestions for local improvements. Cònsol Major Laura Mas commended their input, while Culture, Childhood and Youth councillor Joan Sans emphasised the broader impact, stating that the ideas reflect thinking "not only about yourselves, your own benefit, but the benefit of the citizens of this parish." Afterward, four young members participated in a mock press conference alongside Mas and Sans, answering questions from peers acting as journalists and photographers.

Key sports initiatives focus on diversifying activities, especially handball in Pas de la Casa. The council has notified Club d'Handbol Concòrdia Encamp to introduce new categories for the 2026-2027 season. Trial sessions are being organised locally so children can train without travelling to Encamp, with Sans urging the Children's Council to assess interest and recruit players. Multi-sport days will integrate into the Enfira't programme, highlighting parish clubs and facilities to promote available activities.

Public space upgrades feature prominently, including repaving around the Andorran and French schools in Pas de la Casa by summer 2026, along with bike parking and new street furniture. Mas noted recent courtyard waterproofing in the area and the planned move of the library and youth space to the former nursery school. A joint visit by the road education group and Children's Council will inspect pedestrian crossings in Pas de la Casa, while vertical signage on Carrer Major will reinforce pedestrian priority.

Other measures include intergenerational workshops connecting Espai Jove, social services, and seniors in Encamp and Pas de la Casa, building on a recent Youth Council success. The football pitch opposite the Complex will receive new litter bins and perimeter fencing improvements. Technical reviews will explore shaded climbing areas at Parc de l'Ossa using awnings for all-day use.

In the arts, the Childhood and Youth department will oversee rotating murals guided by an artist, allowing different schools to contribute yearly and directing creativity toward organised urban art instead of graffiti. Children's Council members will help design signage for the completed dog area at Les Bons.

The council will support second-hand markets with social groups and schools at annual fairs, offering logistics despite trade and hygiene regulations to promote reuse and solidarity. The solidarity cloakroom idea was turned down, as the service already exists through social services; Mas committed to promoting it via schools and parents' associations.
