La Capsa d'Ordino Wins Andorra's First Anti-Bullying Photo Contest

The Andorran Association for the Defence of Youth at Risk (Adjra) awarded prizes on Thursday for its inaugural photography contest, "El que no es veu" (What You Don't See), part of a broader campaign against school bullying and to promote youth wellbeing.

The contest drew 53 submissions exploring themes such as mental health, loneliness, exclusion, social pressure, and personal relationships. A panel of specialists from education, social services, psychology, and communications chose 12 finalists, which then went to public vote online. Some 751 people participated, selecting La Capsa d'Ordino as the winner with 246 votes.

Their top entry portrayed social isolation through a figure confined in a stark, dehumanized black-and-white space, heightening feelings of solitude, silence, and emotional detachment. A lone colorful toy stood out, representing hope, human bonds, and the role of shared play in breaking isolation, Adjra noted.

Laura Farreras took second place with 205 votes for a photo evoking the sensation of being trapped inside oneself. Alba Pérez claimed third with 181 votes, using concealed notes to symbolize overlooked words or messages that leave lasting impacts on recipients.

Prizes went to the top three from government figures: Marc González, Escaldes-Engordany councillor, to Alba Pérez; Cristina Pérez, Secretary of State for Health, to Laura Farreras; and Ester Cervera, Secretary of State for Social Affairs, to La Capsa d'Ordino.

The other nine finalists received commendations from Cristina Segura, Encamp's children and youth coordinator, and Justo Ruiz of the Andorran Football Federation, recognizing their role in highlighting youth challenges.

Adjra president Sandra Cano said society benefits when hidden problems like bullying, exclusion, or emotional distress become visible and are addressed through prevention.

The winning photos will become awareness tools, including labels and displays, for schools next term to encourage respect and positive relations among youth.
