Andorra Grants €40K to Jazz Pianist Kic Barroc for Career Professionalisation

The Andorran government has awarded a €40,000 grant for the professionalisation of musical artists to local jazz pianist and composer Kic Barroc, whose real name is Enric Bartumeu Rocamora. The decision, proposed by Culture, Youth and Sports Minister Mònica Bonell, targets a single project selected from this year's applications.

Launched in 2024, the initiative aims to assist Andorran musicians facing financial risks and challenges in fully committing to their artistic careers. This third edition introduced updates to align requirements with sector developments, particularly in project submission formats and music publication methods.

Barroc released his latest album, Entor, earlier this year, following Mon noM in 2023. Since 2022, he has contributed to multiple projects with the Orquestra Nacional del Consell d'Andorra (ONCA). He also co-leads Fonorma alongside Lluís Casahuga and Toni Gibert, producing soundtracks for film, theatre and museums, as well as various installations.

The grant forms part of broader ministry efforts to bolster the cultural sector, including annual subsidies for local artists and funding for participation in international music fairs and markets. Authorities have not detailed Barroc's specific project plans.
