Andorra Approves €189K Subsidies for Six Cultural Heritage Projects

Government allocates precise funding across Andorra parishes to restore threshing floors, haylofts, bordas, and artifacts, prioritizing two major sites that claim nearly 78% of the budget.

Key Points

  • €76,131 to rehabilitate era i ereta de cal Nicolau in Pal (40% of total).
  • €70,758 for hayloft at paller de cal Nagol in Sant Julià de Lòria.
  • Smaller grants: €15K Aldosa roof, €12.8K Encamp borda, €11.1K Vall del Madriu, €3.4K La Massana objects.
  • Funds support restoration, documentation, and intangible heritage preservation.

The Andorran government has approved subsidies totaling €189,246.89 to support six projects aimed at conserving, restoring, and improving cultural heritage sites for 2026.

The largest allocation, €76,131.29, goes to the second phase of rehabilitating and repurposing the threshing floor and small threshing area at era i ereta de cal Nicolau in Pal. This project alone accounts for over 40% of the total funding. The second-biggest grant, €70,757.86, will fund the rehabilitation of the hayloft at paller de cal Nagol in Sant Julià de Lòria. Together, these two initiatives receive nearly 78% of the funds, amounting to €146,889.15.

Four smaller projects share the remainder. In Aldosa de Canillo, €15,029.13 has been awarded for roof repairs on the threshing floor at era de cal Bortoló. Encamp receives €12,852.80 to restore the roof of the borda del Cresper at casa Jaumet. In the Vall del Madriu-Perafita-Claror, €11,104.60 will cover repairs and roof replacement at borda de cal Xic. The only grant for movable heritage, €3,371.21, supports restoration of five objects from the ancestral home casa pairal Bons del Pui in La Massana.

These subsidies align with broader government policies to promote cultural heritage preservation. They cover not only building and object restoration but also efforts to implement documentation and management systems for archival funds, conserve documentary heritage, and support the preservation and promotion of intangible heritage.
